Business Self Evaluation
One quick technique is to perform an assessment using the Business Self Evaluation approach which was developed as part of processes described in The Compass Approach. The approach looks at 12 different aspects of the business and rates them across three time periods (Today, 6 Months, and 12 months).
The evaluation can help in the planning process by identifying where the company needs to focus their efforts.
